Instagram vs. Pinterest + Do you really need to be on both?

The short and simple answer is, YES, preferably!

Confused as to why on earth I would be telling you to add yet another platform to your already hectic schedule on the content hamster wheel (don’t worry I have ways around this for you too!)…

Well, here you go 🙌💃

INSTAGRAM

  • Social media platform, ie. You have-to be social!

  • 24-hour news cycle, if you are lucky!

  • Great for community and keeping your peeps up to date on what is happening NOW. This is obviously the highlight of social media, community! 🙌

  • Engagement, engagement, engagement – In a time where we are all wanting to spend less time on social media well it is a little hard to do both right? Be on it but not it, surely, I am not the only one feeling this.

  • Showing up every day, face to camera… no thanks

PINTEREST

  • Visual Discovery Platform, aka a pretty google, where SEO and keywords decide who sees your content, not a game of popularity with the algorithm

  • Traffic to your content for months if not YEARS to come

  • Evergreen content all the way, sell whilst you sleep…literally

  • Let’s just say, Pinterest is the introvert’s way of marketing 😉

  • No logging in every day to appease an algorithm, engagement for hours per week, schedule your content for a month in as little as 4 hours PER MONTH

  • Direct clickable links on EVERY pin – hello no getting lost in the social media rabbit warren and direct to YOUR content.

I am sure you can sense that one list is full of a lot more pros (cough, Pinterest) and the other more cons (Instagram 😉), but yet I stand by what I said at the start of this blog - there is a need for both in your business! As you can see, they serve different purposes.

We all know that most people are all about the gram, and I am not telling you to immediately leave Instagram, but as you can see from the above comparisons - need I say more as to why you need to be on both platforms… ESPECIALLY if you are on a mission to take a step back on the social media front (because who really needs it in their life right now 😣) and worried (or not and just want more of the following goodness) about how and where you are going to keep getting your website traffic from, people into your subscriber list and leads, hello discovery calls booked whilst you sleep!

100% you need to start leveraging Pinterest in your business. There is no question about it. Set (aka pin) and forget each month on Pinterest and watch your business grow 🎉

Now I can hear you saying, but more content, you want me to create MORE content?! No, I DEFINITELY do not, as a busy business owner myself – I know that this is the last thing that you want to be doing. There are so many ways you can slice and dice content that you are already creating!
